I’ve always had a secret love for that packaged strawberries and cream oatmeal and yesterday I decided to take a crack at my own. This was partially motivated by the fact that I have these “Fruit Stick” things that remind me of the little fruit pieces found in those packets. Using those and sliced frozen strawberries with some almond milk, I managed to make a remarkably creamy and tasty alternative that satisfied even me. It was so good that I made it again today, which is where the photos for this post came from.
Just consisting of dried apples with strawberry flavoring, these little things broken up make a great additive to oatmeal.
I sliced the berries while still frozen and added them to the pan.

I just added all this to a pan and boiled for about 10 minutes, until the oatmeal seemed cooked. Let it cool for another 5-10 minutes to allow it to thicken and it was ready to eat.
This is hands down probably my best oatmeal recipe I currently have under my belt. It’s bursting with strawberry and is remarkably similar to the thing I grew up eating, only it makes me feel a lot better than those artificial powdered packets did.
So next time you make some oatmeal, give this a try! It was simple and turned out way better than even I expected. If you don’t have access to the fruit sticks, any dried apple product would work. You could easily add more berries instead as well, to get similar results.
