In this Ted Talk, Tony Farmer exposes exposes how food companies routinely lie to consumers in order to protect profits at the expense of our health. The video below has the ability to help people see through the smoke and mirrors from food companies who disguise their unhealthy food-like products as healthy consumer choices. Show this video to friends and family members who may be victims of the food industry’s dirty tricks. Label reading should be straight forward, but as this video reveals, it’s anything but that.
Label Reading
While many of us have been taught in school to focus on food label math like calories, fat, carbohydrates, etc. – this video explains how food companies easily manipulate this map using chemicals which have a far worse impact on our health. Food companies prove time and time again, our health is not their priority.
ConAgra Lawsuits
TED wouldn’t allow the company’s name to be revealed, but it’s safe to tell you here, it’s food giant ConAgra. The same ConAgra which was ordered to pay a record $108.9 million in a lawsuit after a 2009 explosion killed four people at one of its Slim Jim plants. The same ConAgra which admitted its Peter Pan peanut butter was responsible for a salmonella outbreak. Just Google “ConAgra lawsuits” and you’ll see the company is as proficient at settling lawsuits as it is at misleading unsuspecting consumers.
ConAgra brands include: ACT II, Armour, Banquet, Blue Bonnet, Brown ‘N Serve, Butterball, Chef Boyardee, Cook’s, Crunch ‘n Munch, DAVID, Decker, Eckrich, Egg Beaters, Fleischmann’s, Golden Cuisine, Gulden’s, Healthy Choice, Hebrew National, Hunt’s, Kid Cuisine, Knott’s Berry Farm, La Choy, Lamb Weston, Libby’s, Life Choice, Lightlife, Lunch Makers, MaMa Rosa’s, Manwich, Marie Callender’s, Orville Redenbacher’s, PAM, Parkay, Pemmican, Peter Pan, Reddi-wip, Rosarita, Ro*Tel, Slim Jim, Snack Pack, Swiss Miss, Van Camp’s, Wesson, Wolf, and many others.
