Essential Oil Diffusers VS Scentsy Pots

The popularity of essential oil diffusers has been gaining in recent years as an alternative to candles, plug ins, aerosols, incense and even scentsy pots, and research suggest this this a huge step in the right direction when it comes to our health.

The Truth About Scented Waxes:

Scented waxes are a huge source of indoor air pollution and they put off chemicals that are considered just as dangerous as second-hand smoke. And it’s not just candles; aerosols, plug-ins, gels, and incense sticks are also a health hazard.

Most candles are made of paraffin, a petroleum waste product and has to be deodorized and chemically bleached before it can be made in to wax, which creates two highly toxic carcinogens, benzene and toluene, when burned, many candles also contain artificial scents and dyes, which release additional chemicals when burned.

Paraffin candles gives off the same soot as the exhaust of a diesel engine, causing problems from headaches to lung cancer. Paraffin fumes have been found to cause tumors in the kidneys and liver of lab animals, and a study shows a strong link between exposure to phthalates, a chemical found in air fresheners, during pregnancy and the child’s future risk of asthma.

On top of that, many scented candles also have wicks that contain heavy metals like lead, and even a few hours of burning them can create levels of airborne heavy metals that are much higher than the acceptable limits, studies have found that as much as 30% of candles in the US contain heavy metals in the wicks.

The EPA banned lead wicks in 2003 after studies showed exposure to high amounts of lead has been linked to hormone disruption, behavioral problems, learning disabilities, and numerous health problems.

I am a beekeeper. I use beeswax and breath essential oil to make cubes have also used the orange oil. They last a long time and beeswax is good. The Dolterra works well because it lasts longer than the other oils.
