How to Start Vaping Without Nicotine

There’s a common misconception that e-liquid for e-cigarettes and other vaping devices must contain nicotine. The truth is that some e-liquids have none of the addictive substance. That means if you have managed to free yourself from the shackles of nicotine but still want to enjoy vaping, you can try nicotine-free vaping.

Nicotine-free vaping is thought to be very low-risk, but those who have been smoking should be careful when trying to completely cut down on nicotine lest they start smoking all over again. Let’s dig deeper into nicotine-free vaping to see if it can work for you.

Nicotine-free Vaping for Non-smokers

If you’ve never smoked in your life but you want to give vaping a try, you should go for vape juice without nicotine. It is not a good idea to start using nicotine if you never have before. While some claim that vaping is about 95% safer than smoking, it is not without some health risks, so you’re better off with zero nicotine e-liquid.

Nicotine-free Vaping for Smokers

If you are trying to quit smoking with the help of e-cigarettes or vaporizers, it is not advisable to start immediately with nicotine-free e-liquid. This is because you may not get a gratifying experience from your zero-nicotine e-cigarette, and you may find yourself looking for actual cigarettes. That’s not what you want.

If you used to smoke but have since switched to vaping and are looking to do away with nicotine completely, it is advisable to do so gradually, one step at a time. You can start vaping on 24mg/ml e-liquid for a couple of months. Afterward, you can take a 50% cut and use a 12mg/ml bottle for another couple of months before dropping to 6ml/g.

Before you complain that this is a slow process, you should be aware that as an ex-smoker, your system is used to nicotine. You may not succeed in trying to cut your nicotine intake down to zero overnight. In fact, you are more likely to go back to smoking if you go cold turkey.

If you are an ex-smoker who enjoys vaping, you don’t have to try to do away with nicotine. After all, you are better off vaping nicotine e-liquids for the rest of your life as opposed to smoking. The amount of nicotine in vaping devices doesn’t pose as many serious health risks.

Bottom Line

You don’t have to inhale nicotine from your e-liquid, contrary to the common misconception about e-cigarettes and vaporizers. The good thing about vaping is that it gives you a wide range of options, including choosing nicotine-free e-liquids.

If there’s a problem with zero-nicotine e-liquids, it’s the situation where a smoker tries to cut off nicotine too quickly. This can lead the smoker back to cigarettes as they try to compensate for the dissatisfying experience from their nicotine-free vape. If you are looking to cut your nicotine intake down to zero, the trick is to take it slowly over the course of at least a year until you stop completely.

I would highly discourage anyone from trying it if you’ve never smoked. My doctor and I have been discussing this extensively as an alternative/transition to quitting smoking cigarettes. Her biggest concern is the amount of moisture that vaping puts in your lungs that would not be there normally, this extra moisture can cause other minor to very serious health issues. Talk to your doctor if you’re really that curious to try it and personally I’d say, if you’ve never been a smoker/vaper, DON’T START!!
